Our Projects

When we're not getting stuck into new books, we LOVE to work within our local community to create storytelling magic...

The Winter Wish Tree

We were approached by South Swindon Parish Council to run a community storytelling project in the run up to their 2024 Enchanted Gardens Light Trail.

We had the pleasure of working with three local schools and three children's charity groups to create a brand-new story around the idea of WISHES!

During specially designed workshops, we worked with over 200 children to engage their inner storyteller, with character design, illustration and hands-on art projects.

The resulting story will be printed in large scale and installed throughout Swindon's Town Gardens for all to enjoy. Find out more about the Enchanted Gardens Light Trail here.

The Winter Wish Tree is a story with community at its heart. By working with three important charities, we were able to shine a light on some important but sometimes heavy topics that children face. Please visit the organisations below for more information and support on these topics.

Provide respite opportunities, through term-time groups and/or holiday activities, to allow young carers to have a break from their caring responsibilities.

Support children & young people who have been affected by the death of someone important to them.

An inclusive place to come and meet other families who are new to Swindon and a place to find out information about organisations in Swindon that can offer help and support.

Bereaved children often tell us how isolated they feel, and seeing their experiences reflected in a central character in a community story will help to normalise their grief and help them to feel connected to the wider community. Being given the chance to shape a story like this will also help their self-esteem, plus the opportunity to be creative is great for their wellbeing.

Thank you for this opportunity, on behalf of the children and our charity.”
